There are many sites and sources for you to find a ‘word-of-the-day’. These sites will generally look through a dictionary to give you a word and a description – hopefully expanding your vocabulary. Usually these sites use randomly chosen words since they have no idea when you might start watching the words provided. I have seen a small group of sites that go out of the way to find words that are ‘more interesting’.

A new site for me is WordSpy. Rather than some ol’ words, this site provides you with a word of the day that is a ‘newer’ word. Words that are just now coming into the main stream of the English Language. A interesting added feature is an attempt to describe the first time the word(s) where used. I will visit regularily to see if a words catches on and I start hearing it in daily conversations.
